Private Residence, Melbourne

[Design & Implementation]

Involved the design & construction of an addition to an original 1930’s period solid brick dwelling.

Living, dining, kitchen, bathroom, and laundry areas were constructed within parts of the existing shell and also within a new addition to the rear.

Natural light and ventilation were major design elements to reduce overall energy consumption.

Private

The original house was ‘one-of a pair’ (ie. 2 dwellings separated by a common wall), orientation being North/South along the main axis of the building.

A flat site but with limited access required careful construction scheduling and control..

Aerated concrete block was the chosen material for the new addition, with polished solid re-cycled timber flooring and plaster walls.

Feature elements included polished aggregate concrete floor sections, a custom made concrete bathroom vanity bench, and custom made cedar windows throughout..

We are interested in the IDEA.
