A project that presented an incredible Brief, How to Brand, Market and Design Australia to a Japanese Audience.

The Program and Design for Ancient Future has been used as a Bench mark by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Australia for Briefing Designers and Contractors for the Australian Pavillion at The World Expo in japan in 2005

The Project was a precedent in Australia's History the largest ever offshore export and presentation of Australian Arts and Culture, from the Australian Chamber Orchestra to Dinosaur Designs from Sydney at Tokyo Designers Block 2003 with the Finale in 2004 -

The final Ancient Future event, PATRICIA PICCININI: WE ARE FAMILY, continued until 1 February 2004 at the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art, Shinagawa.

Direct from the Venice Biennale, Piccinini presents an intriguing "family" inviting the viewer to explore the changing relationship between natural and artificial, normal and mutant.to an International market.

From July to December this year, Japan will enjoy a special taste of Australian culture. "Ancient Future - Australian Arts Festival 2003" will showcase Australia's diverse artistic life over a six month period through a range of events supported by the Australian government.

Australia is a land of old and new, where elements of heritage and tradition extending back 40,000 years both stand alone and fuse with our contemporary culture and "young" history. This exciting blend of ancient and cutting edge expression is what makes Australia the dynamic and innovative society that it is today.

Our rich and unique culture is reflected and expressed by the diverse body of works created by Australia's many inspired artists. Ancient Future features an array of events showcasing visual arts, music, performing arts, film and design.

"Ancient Future - Australian Arts Festival 2003" was launched as part of the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial 2003 on 20 July in Niigata Prefecture. The Tokyo Main Program runs through to December, featuring film, theatre, photography, music and cutting edge contemporary art.



Ancient Future - Australian Arts Festival Japan 2003, is supported by the Australian Government through the Australia International Cultural Council, an initiative of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in partnership with the Australia Council for the Arts.
